F903  Trip Tales
Mondays, 2:15—3:40, Mar. 25—May 13 No class April 8
Seven sessions
Coordinator: Tom Hady

Mar. 25: Join Sue Roose on another of her “Travels with Granddaughters” series. This time it’s to Jamaica, Columbia, Costa Rica, and Panama.
Apr. 1: With Sandy Hoch, discover the best of Scotland; Harry Potter’s Edinburgh; the Outlanders’ Highlands; the Battle Field of Culloden, the Mystical Isle of Skye, and castles including Sterling Castle, once the favored residence of the Stewart kings and queens. Hear the legends of William Wallace; “saucy” Mary; St. Mungo and the Ghosts that haunt Edinburgh and beyond.
Apr. 15: Stan and Judy Schretter will bring us up to date after a recent trip to Israel.
May 13: Sandy Hoch tells us about the trains of Switzerland. For those of us who like mountain scenery, it doesn’t get much better!
Apr. 22: Nancy Fleetwood took a three week road trip all around Ireland and Northern Ireland. Highlights include the Giants Causeway, a Black Cab sectarian neighborhoods tour in Belfast, and the 5,000 year old burial mounds at Brú na Bóinne.
Apr. 29: Join Alana Lukes and her husband on a trip to Vancouver, Canada. Highlights include a family boat trip in the bay, outings to the Vancouver Aquarium and Science World, a tree walk, a hike through a virgin forest, a "Walk through Time," a day visit by ferry to downtown Victoria and its famous Butchart Gardens, as well as a tour of the Britannia Copper Mine north of Vancouver. Somewhat unusual accommodations (recommended by Lonely Planet) at the University of British Columbia as well as a variety of food choices rounded out the week-long adventure.
May 6 (Zoom only): Join Bonnie Becker and her son, Geoffrey Polk on a trip to Dubai. From a primitive fishing village on the edge of a desert to one of the most modern cities in the world, Dubai has had some of the most dramatic changes in the shortest time of any city in history. View the sprawling city from atop the tallest building on the planet, take some runs down the ski slopes located inside a huge shopping mall, and survey the man-made Palm shaped islands. Then ride camels in the desert and view art from the Louvre in Paris, exhibited in nearby Abu Dhabi.
