F657Z May: Celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month
Thursday, 2:15—3:40, May 2
One session
Instructor: Barbara Nelson
Have you ever wondered why May has been designated Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month? This class will answer that question. Initially this presentation was based exclusively on portraits at the National Portrait Gallery, but it has been expanded to include images which highlight the historical impact as well as the contribution today of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. Note: this session will not be recorded due to copyright concerns.
Barbara Nelson, an OLLI member, taught for over 30 years at the secondary level, the last 20 at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology. She has taught literature classes at OLLI, as well as art history classes that are based on National Portrait Gallery exhibits.
