F906Z  The Internet and Network Neutrality: What It Means and Where We’re Headed
Thursday, 9:40—11:05, Nov. 14
One session
Instructors: Doug Povich, Patrizia Ross

Regulation of the Internet vacillates depending in general on which political party controls the Federal Communications Commission. The ongoing debate over so-called “net neutrality” is taking another turn as the FCC's new majority is switching back yet again to treating the Internet as a telecommunications service instead of an information service. Learn about the meaning of net neutrality, how the debate came to this point, the implications of FCC’s action on Internet users, and what happens next.
Douglas Povich is a management analyst for Fairfax County’s Department of Cable and Consumer Services. Before joining the county, Doug practiced telecommunications and technology law for over 30 years. He holds a B.A. in English and Philosophy from Union College and a J.D. from Georgetown University.
