F659 Tea with Company: Real Talk for Connection (Not Agreement)
Tuesdays, 11:50—1:15, Oct. 22—Nov. 12
Four sessions
Instructor: Deborah Smith-Cohen
This series of conversations with tea will enable participants to share thoughts, opinions, and stories on a series of themes, with some from books you might read to learn more. The session topics will be 1) Being Good, 2) Optimism, 3) Ethical Dilemmas, and 4) Being Wrong/Facing Errors. For each, the instructor will offer definitions and some context (including from philosophers, sociologists, or psychologists), and then offer some prompts for shared discussion. Participants will have a chance to listen and learn from each other without any attempt at consensus. A list of books from FCPL will be shared in case students want to dig deeper, but this will not primarily be a book talk.
