This class will view a series of movies made from Booker Literary Prizewinners.
- Jan. 24: Last Orders: When a member of a group of lifelong friends dies, he requests they make a journey with his remains, traveling from pub to pub in the English countryside and on the way revisiting memories of life after WWII.
- Jan. 31: Disgrace: After an imprudent affair with a student, a Cape Town professor flees to his daughter’s remote farm to escape the scandal, only to find tragedy.
- Feb. 7: The Remains of the Day: A dutiful butler dedicates himself wholly to tending an English lord who has Nazi sympathies.
- Feb. 14: Oscar and Lucinda: A romantic drama centering on a feminist Australian heiress and a British missionary, each with a penchant for gambling.
