R808 Summer 2018 Hip and Knee Arthritis and Current Treatment Options

This course will review the basics about hip and knee arthritis. What is arthritis? We will also discuss treatment options for people suffering from arthritis, ranging from medical treatments to the current state of hip and knee replacement surgery.
Dr. Zachary Weidner is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon with The Centers for Advanced Orthopaedics. After completing his undergraduate degree at Brown University, Dr. Weidner earned his MD at the University of Pennsylvania. He completed a general surgery internship, followed by a four-year orthopaedic surgery residency, at St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York, where he received the Resident Research Award. Dr. Weidner put a capstone on his orthopaedic training with a fellowship at the Anderson Orthopaedic Clinic in Alexandria, VA. He has multiple publications in peer reviewed journals and co-authored a chapter on anterior hip replacement surgery in one of the primary orthopaedic surgery textbooks.
