1102F Celebrate Valentine’s with Harry and Sally: Can They Just Be Friends?
Coordinator: Marilyn Harriman
Friday, 1:00—3:00, Feb. 13
Limit: 65
Celebrate Valentine’s with one of the best romantic comedy movies ever made: When Harry Met Sally. The multiple Academy Award nominee and BAFTA 1990 winner for best original screenplay, Nora Ephron’s film is widely considered a classic for its sharp, witty dialogue and realistic development of the two main characters played by Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan. During a long drive from Chicago to New York, brief acquaintances Harry Burns (Crystal) and Sally Albright (Ryan) discuss their differing ideas about male/female relationships, including the eternal question: can men and women be just friends? As time passes, Harry and Sally journey through several relationship stages with others and each other, eventually arriving at an answer to their question. The film is interspersed with endearing segments of true stories featuring older couples discussing how they met. Come on over to Tallwood, settle in, and enjoy a fun afternoon with your OLLI Mason friends. Popcorn will be served.
