101Z Photography 101
Three sessions
Instructor: John Nash
Tuesdays, 9:40—11:05, Jan. 20—Feb. 3
Calling all beginning photographers. We all take photographs, but some people know how to take pictures a little better than others. If you’d like to become more than a “point and shoot” photographer with hoped-for results, this class is for you. The OLLI Photo Club (OPC) is presenting a three-session class on introductory photography, designed for those who would like to know more about this interesting hobby and profession. You’ll learn from experienced OPC members what digital cameras do and some of the ways you can control them. These new cameras aren’t really that difficult to master but they do require some understanding and practice. You’ll also see some members’ photographs and hear from OPC photographers about how they took their pictures and what things they considered before clicking the shutter. You’ll also learn some of the “rules of photography” which is a good way to begin improving your pictures. We’ll have time to discuss cell phone photography and a few simple steps you can use that will improve your results in this fast-growing medium. Plan to join members of OLLI in improving your photography skills. Then, you can continue your learning by participating in the OPC. Of course, if you’d like to “refresh” your photography skills and knowledge, you’re welcome to join in this class. OLLI photographers of all skill levels are always welcome to join the OPC. It’s a benefit of membership!
John Nash is a long-time member of the OLLI Photo Club (OPC) and an even longer-time member of OLLI.A retired Air Force officer, he and his family have lived and traveled in Europe, Thailand, and other world areas. John has taken photographs since boyhood with his Brownie Hawkeye camera, graduating to 35 mm film cameras, and finally embracing digital cameras, the latter being easier to take—and discard—pictures.
