903F  The Star Trek Klingon Battlecruiser: Equal and Opposite to the Enterprise?
One session
Instructor: Tim Hosek
Tuesday, 9:40—11:05, Feb. 10

In the Star Trek original series, and subsequent shows and movies, the U.S.S. Enterprise is the ‘hero ship’. The instructor was in awe of the Enterprise until the episode that introduced the ‘Klingon warship.’ Here was an adversary ship worthy to stand opposite the Enterprise. This course will review the history of the ‘Klingon warship’ through TV, movies, and literature both canon and not so canon. We’ll look at the eight known versions of the ship in Klingon service and the Romulan version, including layout and identifying features. The ‘real world’ discussion will cover development of a shooting model for the TV series as well as subsequent model kits and toys (of which the instructor will bring examples).
Tim Hosek is a retired technical analyst who worked in the federal government and as a contractor for 37 years. Tim's first experience with television science fiction was Fireball XL-5 and he's nerded out on such sci-fi ever since.
