Mondays, 9:40—11:05, Nov. 3—Nov. 10
Class limit: 30
We welcome you to join us for this course on living with grief. Whether you are new to grief, or have been grieving for years, our mission is to help you navigate your personal grief journey. These interactive sessions will provide ways for you to: handle holidays and other social events; find local grief support groups and grief counseling; get ideas for traveling as a widow/widower; learn how to manage loneliness; explore volunteering opportunities; and so much more. This is also a class for those who want to learn ways to help a friend or family member who is suffering. And, if you just want to come to be amongst fellow grievers who speak your language, that’s good, too.
Don Shaw, a former employee of IBM, lost his wife Cissie 14 years ago. For over 12 years, Don has been a trained volunteer at Haven of Northern Virginia, where he provides individual and group grief support for all types of loss.
Julie Sussman is the co-author of the New York Times and national bestselling Dare to Repair, a do-it-herself series of books. Her beloved husband Jerry, a 30-year career CIA officer, died suddenly three years ago.
