Wednesdays, 9:40—11:05, Sept. 25—Oct. 2
Two sessions
Coordinator: John Quinn
This course will provide firsthand accounts of significant historical events that OLLI members themselves personally participated in or witnessed, either at or behind the scenes. Such accounts may include for example, presence at some manmade or natural disaster such as Three Mile Island or the Mount Saint Helen’s eruption, participation in high-level federal agency deliberations during a significant international crisis, participation in some significant military operation such as the Iran hostage rescue attempt, or the killing of Osama Bin-Laden. This course will NOT include personal accounts of where one was or what one thought when significant newsworthy events occurred.
John Quinn has moderated for over five years in the OLLI What’s in the Daily News class. He has made presentations on flying, Civil War history, and American battle music. He is a retired Navy Captain, with subsequent SES civilian service.
