This talk will explore the long history and consequences of Soviet occupation and eventual escape from that oppressive arrangement by the Estonian people. From the Singing Revolution which helped topple a regime to the first fully functional e-Government, we will explore how Estonia has fared so well during the post-communist era. Peter Boettke is a distinguished university professor of Economics at George Mason University. He is a specialist in comparative economic systems and he has published books and articles dealing with the history of the Soviet Union, Poland, Estonia, and the Czech Republic. He has been a visiting scholar at the Academy of Science in Moscow, a Fulbright Fellow in Czech Republic, and visiting professor at Max Plank Institute, Central European University, Charles University, Prague University of Economics, and CEVRO Institute.
