1014  A "Must" Summer Treat: Contemporary American Theater Festival
Wednesday, 2:15-3:40, May 8
Fairfax Lord of Life
Coordinator: Norma Jean Reck

According to the New York Times, the Contemporary American Theater Festival (CATF), held in nearby Shepherdstown, West Virginia, is "one of America's 50 Essential Summer Festivals."  The professional theater festival, which showcases six contemporary plays in rotating repertory during the month of July, focuses on new works, often world premieres, by American playwrights. Learn about this exciting festival and what it has to offer during the summer 2019 season from a member of the CATF staff.  They will discuss the background of the festival, upcoming plays, workshops, backstage tours, luncheon discussions with playwrights and CATF staff, and what Shepherdstown has to offer.

Stay tuned!  The OLLI Theater Lovers’ Group plans to arrange a trip out to see a CATF play in the month of July. The play, My Lord, What a Night by Deborah Brevoort, is based on actual events that lead to an unlikely friendship between Marian Anderson and Albert Einstein. If you are interested in attending, contact TLG coordinator Norma Jean Reck (njreck@cs.com).
