Saturday, 9:30–12:00, Feb. 2
Note date and time
Tallwood
Instructor: Dan Sherman

Alan Jay Lerner was a lyricist and librettist who created some of the most popular works in musical theatre for both stage and film. Although he was best known for transforming the play Pygmalion into My Fair Lady, Lerner’s work spanned more than 30 years and offers many insights into what makes for a successful (or unsuccessful) musical. This multimedia course will cover Lerner’s work and life and will draw on film and audio clips of performances of his work.
Dan Sherman has taught nearly 20 OLLI courses over the past seven years, including many on American musical theatre. Sherman holds a PhD in economics from Cornell and served as managing director at the American Institutes for Research.
