Our lives are defined by, and captured in, photographs and videos. With current technologies, every significant event in our personal and public life is recorded and can be instantly shared around the world with profound consequences. This lecture will trace the history of imaging technology over the past 1,000 years, including recent developments. Finally, we’ll speculate on what the future will bring.
Ravi Athale holds a PhD in electrical engineering from the University of California, San Diego. He has performed research and program management in photonics and imaging. In addition to publishing over 60 research papers, he has co-authored a textbook for high school engineering students and is co-founder of a company that manufactures novelty products based on holograms. He is a recipient of the Secretary of Defense Medal for exceptional public service.
