F308 Summer 2018 Building of the Godspeed Replica and the Story of Those that Sail the Jamestown Ships

This will be a presentation of the building in Maine of a replica of the ship Godspeed, which sailed to Jamestown in 1606, and a first-hand account of the volunteers who maintain and sail three Jamestown ship replicas.
Jim Dillard has a BA in history from William & Mary and an MA in political science from American University. He served as a Fairfax County teacher and principal for 30 years. He also served in the Virginia House of Delegates for 32 years. He is currently on the Virginia Board of Education and on the Commission on Civic Education, which he helped found. He is a world-wide sailor of large boats, an avid racer of 19-foot Lightnings, and a worker and sailor of Jamestown replicas.
