Step back in time and visit our first president’s estate at Mount Vernon. As a Founding Father and commander of the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War, George Washington and his wife, Martha, resided on the 8,000-acre domain, which included a variety of agricultural crops, an apiary, a grist mill, and a wine enclosure. Our tour will feature his beautifully restored home, the slave quarters, four gardens, an exhibit about revolutionary life and war, and a chance to pay respects at the final resting place of George and Martha Washington. Afterward, enjoy 18th-century hospitality at Mount Vernon Inn Restaurant, located just outside the estate’s gates. We’ll eat signature colonial-era dishes and Virginia favorites, such as Virginia peanut soup, fried green tomatoes, fried chicken, and skillet cornbread. Transportation is on your own, and free on-site parking is available. The registration fee includes your grounds ticket, tour ticket, and lunch.
