906F Fall 2026 Funeral Pre-Arrangements: Why, When, and How?

This presentation explores funeral and cemetery preplanning as an important life skill rather than as a sales-driven or religious topic. Participants will gain a clear understanding of the types of decisions families are often required to make during times of loss and why those decisions are difficult when no guidance or documentation exists. The session explains how advance planning supports personal agency, reduces stress for loved ones, and encourages thoughtful family communication. Special attention is given to cemetery planning, an area frequently overlooked despite its permanence and time-sensitive nature. This class is in response to the growing need for preplanning education and the instructor’s passion for helping individuals navigate these conversations with clarity and confidence. 

Cathy Younkin is an advanced planning manager and licensed funeral director with a background in community outreach and television. Her interest in preplanning is shaped by personal experiences when planning was left undone.
